ABOUT US
BC Living Independent Services provides apartment living for persons with physical disabilities. The 'care' component of the model is provided by Resident Care Aides who are available 24/7. Their care includes personal care such as toileting and showering, housekeeping and cooking. All have experience in the needs of those with spinal injury.

The care/living model which BCLIS provides is intended for persons who have 'care hours' funded by agencies such as WCB, ICBC, Health Authority, Victim Compensation or other source but whose hours are inadequate for independent living. In BCLIS' model 4-6 persons pool their funded care hours in order that staffing can be provided on a 24/7 basis. Each client lives in his/her own aparentment and staff have their own staffroom so are not in your apartment other than when needed.

The lifestyle enabled by BCLIS' shared care model is perfect if you like your independence, like to live your own life and make your own decisions, yet need staff to be available when you need assistance. You may schedule your care to be provided at regular times or ad-hoc. That is your choice. Had-hoc calls to staff for assistance is of course on a first-come basis.
